The RTG truck not only bear the weight of RTG, and is easy eroded by seawater and even bear the impact load. The truck lubrication generally adopts forced lubrication, and the performance requirement of anti-wear and anti-water erosion ability of lubricant is relatively high.

At present, a container terminal uses a brand of ordinary lithium grease to lubricate the gantry crane walking drive chain, the effect is not satisfactory and some problems appear.

The ordinary lithium grease is not strong enough to resist the load, the seawater and salt environment, the working temperature, especially the low temperature performance, and the oxidation stability is not strong enough, so it is easy to fail to lubricate in the seaside environment.

The lithium grease currently used in this terminal has insufficient penetration performance and cannot penetrate into the chain pin; moreover, the oil film strength is insufficient and the anti-wear performance is poor. It is easy to cause the pin end to wear and break. In addition, the lithium grease has poor protection against the wet/corrosive environment in the terminal, which may cause the chain to rust. The picture below shows the walking chain of the terminal, a lot of oil sludge is formed on the chain, and there is wear on the inside of the gear and chain plate.

For RTG drive chain lubrication improvement, U.LUBE team recommends using chain oil with good performance, such as U.LUBE's MagN WR100 high adhesion chain oil, which has good adhesion and can form a very strong lubricating oil film on the contact surface, playing a good anti-rust and anti-wear role. Compared with traditional chain oil, the product does not splash and drip, and has good drainage ability. The chain oil has strong penetration, which can effectively lubricate the fine parts of the chain moving parts, guarantee the long operation of the drive chain, and reduce the maintenance work.
