The improved solutions of CITIC ball mill open gear in copper mining plant, U.LUBE team on-site service

The Φ4.5x7.6m ball mill of a copper mining plant, produced by CITIC Heavy Industries, was put into operation from 2013. The ball mill open gear previously used a brand of lubricant for operation and lubrication, and the spraying system was a brand of lubrication system with six nozzles for spraying. The lubrication performance of tooth surface is unstable, the contact of non-drive end is relatively heavy, the oil film of the match part between gear and pinion is thin, presenting graphite lapping traces and oil residue accumulation, meanwhile the lubricant consumption is relatively huge.


After the on-site research and analysis by our U.LUBE team, and then communicate with client, we made a solution that can improve the damage of open gear surface, enhanced the protection of equipment and reduce the consumption of grease, and suggested to use U.LUBE ET series high performance pure oil, which has good adhesion with excellent anti-wear and anti-pressure performance, especially for the open gear transmission mechanism with heavy load and impact.


Our client began to use the product: U.LUBE ET O-OG C-F16 from March, the overall tooth surface lubrication of the ball mill is highly improved, the oil film is thicker, graphite lapping area of heavier contact part of the non-drive end is relatively reduced compared with the lubricant used before, and the performance of oil film is highly improved.


In May and June, our U.LUBE team also carried out two inspections, we found that the overall lubrication performance of the ball mill was better, the oil film was thick and translucent, the size of the gear surface was visible with obvious metallic luster, the tooth surface was smooth and flat without obvious damage, the oil residue accumulation was solved by the improvement of pure oil fluidity, effectively improving the discharge and disposal of waste oil, therefore, greatly reduced the difficulty of on-site maintenance work.


At the same time, the overall lubricant usage has been reduced. The consumption of the lubricant previously used is about 50kg per 40 days; after replacing the U.LUBE lubricant, the consumption reduced to 50kg per 60 days, which can save about 1/3 compared with the previous lubricant and reduce the cost and increase the efficiency for client.
